About

How They Help

How do your programs or services help the community?

Each day in Franklin County, innocent children are removed from their homes when their parents fail to protect and care for them. CASA provides the link between concerned community volunteers and the abused and neglected children in need of a powerful voice to speak up for their best interest. CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to help ensure that the children receive appropriate services and treatment by independently monitoring a child’s situation, identifying community resources, and participating in the court process.

Program Descriptions

Guardian ad Litem:

A Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is an adult who is appointed by a judge to serve on cases of child abuse, neglect, and/or dependency. CASA provides all of the training needed by volunteers who want to fill this GAL role in order to help children. Every day abused and neglected children enter an overwhelming court system where judges and magistrates must make decisions that will determine their future. CASA volunteers fill a vital role by thoroughly researching each child’s case and advocating for the child’s best interest in court. People of all ages and walks of life serve as CASA volunteers.
